Canberra Camps, Settlements & Early Housing

Other publications

In addition to books I have also published in a number of journals and written chapters for other books on Canberra. The Canberra & District Historical Society Journals contain articles on Canberra's Camps, History of Human Habitation of Stirling Park, Yarralumla and the first Surveyors' Camp on Camp Hill - now part of Capital Hill.

The First Surveyors' Camp

Final draft for Citation Stirling Park

The first book on Canberra's history that I published was 'The Builders of Canberra 1909-1929' and the last in 2009 was 'A Story of Capital Hill' .  The latter is in this web under its title. The Builders of Canberra 1909-1929 is currently being updated and drafts of the chapters are in this web.  The final chapters will be reduced and a number of photographs will be removed from some chapters because they double up.  However, because the first work has been out of print for nearby 20 years I have included the drafts here for researchers to use if they wish to do so.  A few chapters on Permanent Canberra have still to be added.
